What I’m Watching: Grace and Frankie

Grace and Frankie: Season 3, Episode 10 “The Labels” (B+)

As regular readers of this site know, one of my favorite things on TV shows is when characters that rarely interact do so. Sol’s eagerness to help Grace and follow her system of applying the labels in an even and neat fashion was entertaining, and I enjoyed Robert and Frankie bonding over being bossed around by her even more. They also had a nice moment together where Frankie confided in Robert about everything she was struggling with related to Jacob’s impending move and his big question, prompting them to exchange a look that forced her to spill the beans to Grace, who was not happy at all with the idea of her moving away and abandoning their business venture. Frankie doesn’t have the same business sense as her partner, and her notion of handing vibrators out on the front lines is far too idealistic to be taken seriously. It turns out that it was Grace and not Frankie who opted to give Allison one of the vibrators, causing Bud some sincere concern and then apparently resulting in some real pleasure for both Allison and Bud. It was very sweet to see Coyote fall for someone, and to hear Nadia offer up a positive spin on her reciprocated feelings with an acknowledgment that they really needed to wait, rectifying the unfortunate situation that came up as a result of Mallory’s efforts to be a matchmaker for the man that she should really be with who parks his house in her yard.
