What I’m Watching: Timeless

Timeless: Season 2, Episode 6 “The King of the Delta Blues” (B-)

Similar plotlines on “Legends of Tomorrow” have me constantly confused watching this show, because of all of this talk about the devil and music had me thinking that our time-travelers were going to be facing an army of the undead like the one Elvis conjured up with his guitar. That wasn’t the case, of course, since this show is all about the science fiction but not the supernatural, and instead we had a relatively lackluster instance of the inventors of rock and roll needing to be convinced to make their music so that they could change history. What did make it worthwhile was that Connor jumped aboard the lifeboat for the first time, reluctantly since he had never actually traveled through time before, and I’d love to see him on future missions since he brings an appreciation about the past matched only by Lucy previously. Flynn is proving his worth, and we’re getting much closer to Lucy writing that book that he always claims that she gave him. I don’t quite understand the value of sending Wyatt in on an urgent one-man mission to take out Rittenhouse, mainly because the way that this show works in reference to its time travel makes little sense. They wouldn’t need to rush out to catch up to the mothership since they should be able to arrive at that same moment no matter when they leave, and at least Flynn, who wouldn’t have hesitated before shooting Lucy’s mother, could have gone with Wyatt as backup. Gia’s premonition about Rufus dying can’t be good news for his future as a character, since for him to survive would mean that they can fight back and change the course of events despite the timeline always managing to correct itself.
