What I’m Watching: Supergirl

Supergirl: Season 4, Episode 16 “The House of L” (B)

This season has really pivoted to focus on a new character who needed no introduction, Lex, and this full-flashback episode was helping in filling in some gaps related to events that we’ve previously seen. I had pretty much forgotten about the clone of Kara who ended up in Kaznia a while ago, and here we see what’s because of her in the time since. I did find it a bit thin that all she remembered was Alex, which wasn’t enough for her to realize the bond that her doppelganger sister had with her real sister but instead conveniently fit with the name that no one else called Lex. Eve’s eagerness to work with him and her placement with Lena wasn’t difficult to explain, and I’d imagine that Otis saving Mikhail rather than letting him be killed as part of Lex’s manipulative plan is going to be the thing that stops the other Supergirl from taking down the one we know. Lex’s super suit is definitely powerful, and Supergirl was not expecting the abilities that he demonstrated when they were fighting on the roof. Lex has done a masterful job of indoctrinating the cloned hero that he plans to use to help achieve his notions of world domination, and the fact that he knows that Kara is Supergirl is extremely problematic, especially since neither Lena nor Alex know. There are still six episodes left this season, and I’m excited to see where things go as everything intensifies and our friends have to rally to beat a threat that has very little to do with aliens.
