What I’m Watching: Black Monday (Season Finale)

Black Monday: Season 2, Episode 10 “I Don’t Like Mondays” (B)

It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that Mo’s plan didn’t work out perfectly, but that’s because he can’t always rely on everywhere to always put their own interests first as he consistently does. The best-executed part was his takedown of Connie, who was furious to discover that Mo had arranged for one of his Black Panther friends to get close to her and bring her to the Cayman Islands under the guise of a vacation only to actually implicate her in accessing an illegal offshore bank account. Trusting Blair to do his budding was his undoing, since he corrupted the man who was content merely with his own successes and not the lavish riches Mo convinced him were important when he used him throughout all of season one. Getting Pastor Newell to appoint him to Roger’s now-vacant seat was a strategic move on his part, and he really had no reason to help Mo after everything. Dawn was appalled that Mo tried to kiss her and still thought she’d harbor any romantic feelings towards him, and what she needed most was to get the credit she was due for masterminding Black Monday. She got that even though it also came with a prison sentence, but she’s happy. And Keith’s rollerblading-induced injury was rather grotesque, and I think I was least impressed by the Lehman brothers plot in this season. After this finale, I’d be okay with this being the end of the show since there’s no renewal notice just yet. It’s been fun, but I don’t know how much more there is here.

Season grade: B
Season MVP: Andrew Rannells as Blair
