What I’m Watching: Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist: Season 2, Episode 11 “Zoey’s Extraordinary Double Date” (B+)

It’s good to see that Zoey is talking to someone who can help her process how her powers and how they’re affecting her relationships. Opening with the song in the waiting room when she tried to be too friendly to another patient was entertaining, and it’s good that Dr. Tesoro isn’t even bothering to comment on whether he believes that what she’s describing is real or literal. Connecting the resentment she felt towards Max when she heard him singing a heart song about New York to loss was helpful, though it seems like it’s too late to fix that dynamic since Max rightfully feels that her knowing his innermost thoughts has changed the way they interact. Simon seemed to be really angry for the first time in a long time after Zoey did a half-decent job of pretending to be into his fun run and then failed completely to get him the food he was supposed to have while focusing way too much on Max. Being honest with him probably won’t go too well, but it’s going to have to happen sooner or later. Perry being unhappy that Mo and Brad got along so well revealed a deeper concern within him that might mean he and Mo aren’t destined to be together after all, but the fact that we didn’t see a breakup gives me some hope that they might be able to work it out. Tobin and McKenzie hooking up was not a surprise, and the most entertaining part of the whole thing was Tobin and Leif jumping up and down with excitement in the office before they realized everyone could see them.
