Emmy Nominees: Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series

My predictions: 3/6, picking Carol Burnett, Cynthia Nixon, and Elaine Stritch over Banks, Chenoweth, and Jones

This category, like the Drama Guest Actor race, is slanting much more towards the recurring guest star rather than a one-shot spot. That’s the explanation for the inclusion of someone like Elizabeth Banks (30 Rock) or Dot Marie Jones (Glee), though it doesn’t explain the omission of Cynthia Nixon from “The Big C.” Clearly voters aren’t over Tina Fey (Saturday Night Live), technically earning her fourth consecutive nomination, and Kristen Chenoweth (Glee), nabbing a nod after being nominated last year for “Glee” and for “Pushing Daisies” the two years before that. Elaine Stritch (30 Rock), however, is out, making way for Cloris Leachman (Raising Hope), earning her seventh nomination in this category for a new show. Joining them is Gwyneth Paltrow (Glee).

Who should win? Paltrow, maybe?
Who will win? Probably Leachman, though it could be Paltrow too.
