AFT Awards: Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series

This is the sixth category of the 1st Annual AFT Television Awards to be announced. Guest category nominees must not be regular members of the cast and must be billed as guest stars. Their appearances need not be limited to any number of episodes. Nominees are listed in alphabetical order.

Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series

MATT ROTH AS ART SHEPHERD, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
His first appearance as a friendly superhero was not a terribly difficult role to play. But when Shepherd became a suspected pedophile, Roth had to work hard to convince both the neighborhood and the audience that he was innocent. But his brilliance comes in his final, climactic scene on the series when he thanks a terrified Lynette for taking away any reason for his inhibitions. It is simply chilling.

MARTIN LANDAU AS BOB RYAN, ENTOURAGE
"Does that sound like something you might be interested in?" Landau is nothing short of terrific as the aging producer looking for a project that will rejuvenate his career. His pretty much one-sided interactions with Kevin Connolly (Eric) and Jeremy Piven (Ari) are particularly delightful to watch.

STEVEN WEBER AS MAX HUDSON, MONK
This little-rewarded but fantastic actor shines among an impressive "Monk" guest cast this season, including Andy Richter, Ricardo Chavira, and Sean Astin. As the truly horrible and offensive DJ who makes jokes about the death of Monk's wife, Weber is just the right amount of evil. Better yet, he is completely unflinching in his response to Monk's antics.

CREED BRATTON AS CREED, THE OFFICE
"http://www.creedthoughts.gov.www\creedthoughts" The delivery of that one line, followed by the revelation that Ryan had simply opened up a word document when Creed asked him to create a blog is certainly one of the highlights of the season. Any scene Creed is in is pretty much hilarious, including him fishing during the beach trip and constantly sttealing money.

WILL ARNETT AS DEVON BANKS, 30 ROCK
Arnett, an Emmy nominee last year for the overrated "Arrested Development", makes a great guest appearance on "30 Rock" as a rival producer trying to get Jack Donaghy's job as well as get Kenneth the page. His interactions will both are so fierce and entertaining.
