Golden Globe Winner Predictions: Best Actor in a Mini-Series or Made-for-TV Movie

The competition: Idris Elba’s detective (Luther) Ian McShane’s bishop (The Pillars of the Earth), Al Pacino’s Jack Kavorkian (You Don’t Know Jack), Dennis Quaid’s Bill Clinton (The Special Relationship), and Edgar Ramirez’s terrorist (Carlos).

For your information: This is Pacino’s fifteenth career nomination, and he won on his most recent shot for in his first television category (this one) for “Angels in America.” McShane won a Globe in 2004 for the first season of “Deadwood.” Quaid was nominated in 2002 for the film “Far from Heaven.” This is the first nomination for both Elba and Ramirez.

Who should win: Sadly, I’ve seen none of these nominated performances.

Who will win: The safe choice would be Pacino, but given that younger actors like Ving Rhames, James Franco, and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers have triumphed in this category, I’m going to go with Elba, though Ramirez could also win.
