Legends of Tomorrow: Season 1, Episode 16 “Legendary” (B)
I’ll admit to being a bit confused about what transpired here with all this in-three-places-at-once business, but it seems like the team finally did what I’ve been itching for them to do for so long, which is to kill Savage and move on to more important time-related matters to do with saving the world. Kendra finally getting the chance to kill Savage was very satisfying, and it’s nice to see that Carter, who was the first person to die way back at the beginning, is back and the two of them have a shot at happiness, even if it means that Ray isn’t involved. The finality of certain things, like Snart’s sacrifice and Laurel’s death, give this show some important supporting drama, but what’s much more enticing is all the action. The new skills displayed by Firestorm are pretty cool, and I’m looking forward to seeing those honed. I like when shows mimic “Back to the Future” and have an enormous amount of time pass between one moment and the next as it relates to the time traveler, and fortunately the fun can start right over again as a result. I have no idea what the Justice Society of America is, but I am certainly intrigued. This first season has been fun, and I’m eager to see where it goes in season two, which will certainly look different with a few key characters out of the cast, but I imagine will have no trouble finding an awesome direction to travel.
Season grade: B+
Season MVP: Victor Garber as Professor Stein and Brandon Routh as Ray
