Last year’s nominees: Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory), Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Tina Fey (30 Rock), and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep)
The rundown: Fey is out since her show isn’t on anymore. The other four are still eligible and might well all be nominated again, but I think two new faces will be able to bump two of them, though I’m not completely sure which. Allison Janney (Mom) won two SAG Awards and was nominated for another three for “The West Wing,” and so she seems like a good bet to break into the crowd. Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black) hardly has the same pedigree, but I think that the appropriate genre classification should help this sophomore show earn some recognition.
Current predictions: Bialik, Bowen, Janney, Louis-Dreyfus, Schilling
