What I’m Watching: Hung (Season Finale)

Hung: Season 3, Episode 10 “The Whole Beefalo” (B+)

What a fun finale this was, giving its central characters chances for redemptive shows of dignity and its newer, fringe personalities possibilities to remain central to the plotline in the future. Ray’s frustration with everything being confiscated due to Tanya helping Charlie out proved quite entertaining, and led to a highly amusing trip to the middle of nowhere in Michigan, where the two saw fit to try to steal a couple of cows in order both to hurt Charlie and to attempt to recoup their losses. It seemed possible that he was going to shoot either or both of the perpetrators, but that’s not how things tend to work on this show, though of course that my no longer be the case. Jason groveling to Lenore was no big surprise, and it’s clear that Lenore wants to ensure that Sandee is completely out of the picture, designing to send her to Disneyland. Jason breaking up with Sandee immediately after discovering about the death of her grandparent was predictably awkward, and I like that she decided to bring Lenore a cake, though it’s yet to be discovered whether her “bang” proved fatal for the manipulative redhead. Jessica being fired for mixing up a urine sample was awfully convenient, and I’m glad that she marched back into the office and told the doctor exactly what she expected from him as well as revealing some unfortunate secrets he’d probably rather have kept under wraps. This has been an enjoyable season, and I’d hate to see the show end right now since, fitting as it might have been, leaving the two protagonists in a field with cows just isn’t the way to go out.

Season grade: B+
Season MVP: Rebecca Creskoff as Lenore
