What I’m Watching: Entourage

Entourage: Season 6, Episode 5 “Fore!” (B)

This is an entertaining installment, but like, say, “Tree Trippers” from last year, it just features all the characters chilling around and relaxing, and doesn’t exactly move the show along forward. Parading in guest starts like Mark Wahlberg, Tom Brady, and Jeffrey Tambor to play themselves may be entertaining, but there isn’t much to their roles. Wahlberg’s only around because he was the inspiration for Vince and he serves as an executive producer on the show. Brady is supposed to be a one-scene joke for Turtle to embarrass himself, but it turns out that Turtle finds him cool and ends up sucking up to him instead. Tambor has appeared on the show before, and while it’s amusing, there’s a limit to how many times older out-of-work actors can declare their undying hatred for Ari. Sloan’s return is still puzzling, though it’s good to see the always-calm bombshell finally get heated in an argument with Eric. The famous manager grooming him also seems highly reminiscent of a certain character played on this show by Martin Landau. The episode’s end is rather lame – it’s about time Ashley caught on that her sleepover-optional boyfriend is still hung up on his ex.
