Emmy Nominees: Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

My predictions: 4/6, picking Courteney Cox and Mary-Louise Parker over Louis-Dreyfus and Poehler
Missing: Christina Applegate, Courteney Cox, America Ferrera, Mary-Louise Parker, Sarah Silverman

Half of this field is new, which is always something welcome. Barely-eligible previous nominees Christina Applegate and Sarah Silverman couldn’t hang on to their slots, while Julia Louis-Dreyfus did for the last time. I’m saddened by the omission of Mary-Louise Parker, even though the show did dip in quality this year. Going from a Best Comedy Series nomination and a bunch of others to a total of one for cinematography is a drastic difference for “Weeds”. Regarding the new blood in this category, Edie Falco was expected and will now go head-to-head with past winners Toni Collette and Tina Fey for the gold (though Falco already has three trophies for her work on “The Sopranos”). I’m happy about Lea Michele being included and so thrilled about Amy Poehler since I love “Parks and Recreation.” The show only earned one other nomination, which was a well-deserved one for Main Title Theme Music, though if I’m correct it hasn’t changed since last season when it should first have been eligible.

Who should win? Poehler or Michele; they’re both great!
Who will win? One of these three: Falco, Collette, or Fey. My money is on Falco given her show’s surprising Best Comedy Series nomination.
