Emmy Nominees: Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series

My predictions: 3/6, picking Tracy Morgan, Rainn Wilson, and Ed O’Neill over Colfer, Cryer, Ferguson
Missing: Kevin Dillon, John Krasinski, Tracy Morgan, Ed O’Neill, Jeremy Piven, Rainn Wilson

I have many different reactions to this category. In the “ugh” department, we have Jon Cryer, back again after winning last year and hopefully leaving the category for good. In the “yikes” department, Rainn Wilson has lost his spot, presumably a consequence of the show’s drop in quality. The series managed to hang on to its Best Comedy Series spot but earned only three other nods, for directing, star Carell and sound mixing. In the “ouch” department, we have Emmy-less Ed O’Neill as the only adult cast member of “Modern Family” not to be nominated this year. In the “fun” department, we have enthusiastic Chris Colfer of “Glee” here. In the “farewell” category, we have the unusually large list of Kevin Dillon, Jack McBrayer, Tracy Morgan, Jeremy Piven, Rainn Wilson, all nominees last year not nominated this time around. Only Cryer and Neil Patrick Harris remain, joined by “Modern Family” men Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Eric Stonestreet. I didn’t see Ferguson’s nomination coming, but he is great on the show!

Who should win? Burrell
Who will win? It could have been Harris, but I think it will be either Burrell or Stonestreet, and currently I’d pick Burrell (before we know about episode submissions).
