What I’m Watching: Heroes

Heroes: Season 4, Episode 18 “The Wall” (F)

Are we really calling them Specials now? Ugh. I didn’t know that an official decision had been made, and I want a new round of voting. I thought they were known as heroes; isn’t that what the show is called? How do you think a show called “Specials” would have done? Probably not too well. It’s not as if the heroes are doing that great, anyway. This whole wall thing was incredibly stupid, cementing the fact that all of Parkman’s abilities just lead to preposterous places. The concept of time passing so much more slowly is a bit too ridiculous, and it doesn’t make a lick of sense. Sylar’s line, “We’ve been here for I don’t know ho many years” was very poor, because the passage of time for him and Peter was not well represented at all, and I don’t buy it. The “happy birthday”/ “it’s not my birthday” exchange was particularly painful. Sylar may claim to be a changed man, but I doubt it’ll stick. Down at the carnival, I’m so tired of Claire being shocked about what her father has done. That they’re grown closer over the past year or two doesn’t negate the fact that he has killed people, and she knows that. This is hardly the time for confessions, and the days of terrific episodes like “Company Man” are long gone. This show can never approach that kind of quality again. It’s no surprise that Lauren escaped, and Samuel had to know that leveling that trailer wasn’t going to kill Noah and Claire, so he’s just asking for them to stop him. A giddy field trip to New York should seal this season off just fine next week, and I really hope that’s the last we ever see of these “Specials.”
