What I’m Watching: Chuck

Chuck: Season 3, Episode 13 “Chuck Versus the Other Guy” (B+)

My prediction from last week panned out exactly, as Shaw proves to be duplicitous and Chuck has to be the one to put him down. It’s worth noting that even in his final moments Shaw was truly awesome, and didn’t want to hurt Chuck since he had nothing to do with the death of his wife. I’m extraordinarily happy that Brandon Routh guest-starred this season since I think his presence helped to bring the team even closer even as they were broken up. Now things can get back on track, as Casey is fully back, Sarah is okay with Chuck’s first kill because he saved her life, and Morgan is now aboard Team Bartowski. The conversations between General Beckman and Morgan are hilarious, and her calling him to inform him that he’s now a spy and then hanging up o him was very funny. It’s unclear what Morgan’s function will be on the team, but it’s really nice that Casey made his addition one of his demands for handing over the director of the Ring. Now that the Ring has been taken down, the team can go back to dealing with regular bad guys and having some fun together during missions. I absolutely love all of the music used in this episode. It’s a perfect action score that isn’t quite as goofy as some of the rest of the equally cool score. Unfortunately “Chuck” is taking some time off and won’t be back for three whole weeks before airing its final six episodes. I can’t wait, and I really hope that season four is in the cards.
