What I’m Watching: Parenthood

Parenthood: Season 3, Episode 4 “Clear Skies from Here on Out” (B+)

This episode is well-balanced with a good amount of drama and a fair amount of comedy as well. On the more serious side, we have some young conflict as Jabar’s friendliness to Max has taken on a whole new meaning, preventing Jabar from having lunch with his other friend and causing resentment, even leading to a full-fledged fight which brings in both sets of parents. Crosby’s solution, to tell Jabar that Max has some problems, was hardly effective, and Jasmine seems to be quite angry about it. Fortunately, Adam and Crosby were able to resolve their issues, at leas temporarily, thanks to the exciting arrival of the loan for the luncheonette. Alex breaking up with Haddie was probably something that had to happen eventually, and it wasn’t easy to take, especially seeing him tear up saying thank you and goodbye to Kristina without her quite realizing what his farewell meant. Zeek’s role in the erectile dysfunction commercial produced some laughs, but I do hope we won’t have to suffer through an entire acting career of his. Camille seemed concerned about never finishing everything, but I think she should be pleased that she got to finish a sentence since she barely has a part on this show anymore. Drew going on his date and having Amber dominate the conversation was funny, and it’s sweet that she actually likes him. Sarah getting photographed with Mark, however, is not quite as amusing, since it’s sure to shame the only child Sarah does still have left in high school.
