I absolutely love episodes that start with Provenza and Flynn off the clock. I immediately flashed back to the time they were on their way to a sports game and found a dead body in their garage and considered not reporting it because of how much they wanted to get to the game. This time was even more fun considering they had two Southern flight attendants to distract them and then later get them into trouble. Provenza’s concern with the fact that they may not have actually been attracted to them was both heartfelt and funny, and the inability of anyone else to believe it helped to rile him up even more. Brenda’s decision to have Provenza and Flynn babysit the flight attendants while they were on camera proved to be quite entertaining, especially when they started mocking Brenda, prompting Fritz to comfort her before the eventual revenge she got when they were taken away in handcuffs. That scene in the airport parking lot towards the end of the episode was an extraordinarily well-choreographed and delightful mess. Taylor’s creative use of his office space and ultimate conclusion that he actually had more space than he’d ever had was fun, and I laughed out loud at Pope’s insistence that it was a “super-cubicle.” Things are really going to get ugly between Brenda and Pope now that he has so arrogantly stated his feelings and made it abundantly clear just how poor he thinks her chances are. I still can’t imagine Brenda actually getting the job, but now she’s definitely going to apply and it’s not going to be pretty.
Good news for fans of "The Closer" - the show has been renewed for a seventh season of fifteen episodes, slated to air sometime in 2011.
