Why Women Kill: Season 1, Episode 3 “I Killed Everyone He Did, But Backwards and in High Heels” (B+)
After a series of missteps that ended up humiliating her and making it clear just how little Rob was interested in doing anything with her, Beth Ann has managed to find her footing and figure out a way to be happy as she schemes to disrupt her husband’s affair. April telling her about the public date she was going to go on with Rob resulted in a perfect opportunity for Beth Ann to catch him in a lie by taking his already-finished project and forcing him to stay late to actually redo it. I like that she’s taking advice from Sheila, who is more than happy – if a little out of breath – to be her co-conspirator and bring her the phone when April called her. Simone’s plotline reminded me most of “Desperate Housewives” as Tommy couldn’t stand the way that Karl was treating Simone in public and wasn’t shy about showing it, spilling on him and even getting himself fired just to be able to exact some form of vengeance on him. Interestingly, Eli didn’t seem to be the problem this time with Taylor, even if he did invite himself along to their two-person clubbing date. Eli and Taylor might have an unconventional marriage, but Jade is far too fleeting for them, ready to disappear at the drop of a hat and travel around the world because that’s her nature. Asking her to move in permanently is a band-aid and nothing more, and it’s going to end up hurting both of them in the long run more than anything.
