Curb Your Enthusiasm: Season 8, Episode 5 “Vow of Silence” (B+)
The posters for this season proclaimed “New York - Same Larry,” so it’s about time that Larry announced that he was headed for the Big Apple. The construction of his visit is completely typical for this show, as Larry purports to be going to New York in order to get out of hosting an event and then continues to run into the questioner and essentially talks himself into going to New York for three months. I’m eager to see what Larry is going to be like out of his element, and the sight of him eating Pinkberry on the plane next to a furious Susie was very funny. I enjoyed Larry being told to stay within the lines of his own business, and I loved that the bad parker turned out to be Vance. It was only a matter of determining how, not if, Larry was going to make Vance break his vow of silence, and I liked how it all played out. Larry becoming a victim of his calling someone out on the Chat & Cut was also funny. Not much came of it, but it was fun to see Rich Sommer from “Mad Men” as the vet, as well as Michael McKean. The last shot of a fuming Lewis was a terrific send-off, as Larry managed to underline just why confirming is crucial since making plans doesn’t quite cut it if you’re not going to bother showing up. Next week, Larry will have plenty of opportunities to offend a whole new city.

What a funny episode! I can always count on Larry. I’m glad I work for DISH because I found out about DISH Online and used it to watch Curb Your Enthusiasm on demand!
