Weeds: Season 7, Episode 6 “Object Impermanence” (B+)
It’s really fun to see some of season one’s best characters back for another round here, and though they may not recur, it’s nice that they’re at least somewhat roped into the greater plotline for the time being. Even without the guest stars, Silas and Nancy’s relationship continues to get even more intriguing as she tells him to be the man and he tells her to be the mom when debating who will peek out to see if Heylia is firing on them. Dean over-sharing his sexual disease history with Silas was amusing, but what worked very well, as it did last episode, was Silas’ surprising maturity and business sense which enabled him to seal the deal and have his presence requested by Heylia to help implement their business. It appears that Nancy’s actually happy about everything, if her plane ride memories are any indication, so we’ll have to see how long that will last. She doesn’t even know about the positive developments at home that Shane has made thanks to his astute participation in his criminal justice class. I liked how he busted the guest speaker cop who brought a suspected rapist to class and then directly asked the officer how to create a front business, enabling Andy to get some startup cash for his hybrid bike idea. Andy’s pitch video was hilarious, and it’s a shame that he got laughed at for thinking too small by the members of Doug’s firm. Now that everyone has a plan, maybe things will actually work out for the extended Botwin clan for a bit.
