What I’m Watching: True Blood

True Blood: Season 4, Episode 11 “Soul of Fire” (B+)

With only one episode left this season, it’s no surprise that this installment is furiously intense and manages to bring everyone except for Andy together into two plotlines. I would definitely cite Jesus as the most valuable player in this arc since he managed to singlehandedly save the day by unbinding Antonia and Marnie. It’s just as certain that Marnie had lost it before she met her end, imprisoning Antonia along with all the other witches and Sookie. It’s impressive to see just how quickly both Bill and Eric are ready to sacrifice their lives to save Sookie, and to see the extremely different but equally concerned reactions from Jessica and Pam. Everything seemed to have been resolved until Marnie’s spirit jumped right down Lafayette’s throat, and so dealing with that will likely be the main event of next week. Alcide discovering that Marcus was at his house got him pretty riled up, and I’ve never seen him so angry as he was yelling at Debbie and killing Marcus. Sam managed to defend his brother’s honor well, and I’m glad that he and Alcide now have this bond which should help keep the werewolf relevant. Now Sookie has not one but three men to choose from, which should prove difficult, complicated, and frustrating for our heroine and her three supernatural suiotrs. Andy’s wanderings are peculiar at best, but I have to imagine that it has something to do with whatever will serve as the main storyline next season, which I’m sure will be just as crazy as this one.
