What I’m Watching: Legends of Tomorrow

Legends of Tomorrow: Season 3, Episode 8 “Crisis on Earth-X, Part 4” (B+)

In a sense, this was the least exciting installment of the four, offering up a decent conclusion to the storyline started on Monday night, but it still had its moments. I was thrilled to see all the legends in costumes, getting on the bandwagon with their other super-powered friends. I was also wondering where Ray had been this whole time (I forgot about the others who didn’t know Barry and Iris), and his return was pretty formidable, especially when he was able to get bigger in addition to getting smaller. Caitlin building an ice bridge to get Amaya and Zari on the other Wave Rider was cool, and Cisco had a blast piloting the timeship. Evil Kara went ahead and exploded, which was convenient, and Oliver got to kill his doppelganger. I love that Leo needed a hug from Barry before he left, and I so hope that we’ll see Wentworth Miller back again on this show since this was easily the best version of Leonard Snart. Of course, the sadness of losing Professor Stein stings, since Victor Garber was always leaving the show but not always in such a fatal way, and having the legends and other friends shovel dirt during his funeral was a heartfelt moment. This episode ended with true joy related not to any of the legends but to the two men who spun them off and the women that they really want to be with, proving that Nazis don’t always win and that sometimes happiness prevails. Here’s to many more awesome epic crossovers like this!
