Top Ten New Shows of 2009: #2

My annual TV Awards, the AFT Television Awards, are given out during the summer. But this year, during both the spring and the fall, produced many impressive new television series. As 2009 closes out and 2010 begins, here’s a look back at the best new shows of the year.

#2: Parks and Recreation

SNL scene-stealer Amy Poehler took charge as a naïve but courageous Parks Department employee in what many dismissed as a carbon copy of “The Office.” Poehler and her stellar supporting cast defied expectations and created a wholly separate show worthy of its placement in NBC’s Thursday night lineup. The six-episode first season was good, but the show’s second season has been consistently better and, more importantly, funnier.
