Parenthood: Season 5, Episode 20 “Cold Feet” (B+)
It’s nice to see an episode that contains only forward-moving and generally positive developments rather than devastating familial and interpersonal relationships. It was entertaining to watch Sarah’s discovery of Amber’s houseguest and her understandable anger at Drew for not staying in his dorm. Finding out that Berto’s parents are psychiatrists was a surprise, and I like how he forced Drew to open up by drinking beers and telling him things that he doesn’t like about him. Crosby’s newfound $14,000 bill isn’t good news, but, fortunately, it looks like the unlikely pairing of bands might actually work out for the Luncheonette, changing their schedules in a big way and catapulting their business. It’s fortuitous timing, at least financially, considering that the charter school has now been approved, though it could end up being too much for Adam to have on his plate. It seemed like Mr. Knight was iffy about being headmaster, but it turns out that he was just interested in Julia romantically. Her sleeping with him when she couldn’t even stay past dessert with Ed was questionable, and I can’t imagine that either Joel or Ed will react well to that news. Kudos to Hank for getting it right the second time around in his apology to Sarah, at least providing some catharsis for him if not an eventual restarted relationship. It was sweet to see Zeek step up to the plate and find the perfect new house when Camille started getting cold feet about moving. Things are looking pretty good for the Bravermans overall right now.
