Black Monday: Season 3, Episode 10 “One!” (B)
This finale was actually surprisingly decent given how off-the-rails this entire season has been, and unfortunately it makes me think that maybe this show could somehow return for another run and offer up some more wild entertainment as it goes into a new decade. I like that Lenny was all talk and turned out not to be the killer, with Dawn so thrilled that she was right and that it was a woman after all. There was nothing subtle about the vows that Dawn read which were so clearly choreographed to encourage Lenny to just up and admit his guilt, and Mo got especially romantic and blunt, which was all the more emphatic considering that he wasn’t actually under the influence of a truth serum. After all this, it’s sweet that they were able to find happiness together, which might even last a little bit until the next big crime they accidentally or purposely decide to commit. It did make some sense that Lenny just wanted the revenge he got and that it was Corky, someone who saw people assume she wasn’t competent and used that to her advantage at every turn to take out all the people she perceived as having ruined her life. And I never thought I’d be quite so happy to see Tiff alive again, and I think that Blair shared my joy, which was good to see after all they’ve been through together. What could come in season four? I don’t know, but the road to get here was certainly ridiculous and a bit unnecessary.
Season grade: B-
Season MVP: Andrew Rannells as Blair
