What I’m Watching: Superman and Lois (Season Finale)

Superman and Lois: Season 1, Episode 15 “Last Sons of Krypton” (B)

I’m glad to see that, unlike some other Arrowverse series, this show did in fact wrap up its season-long storyline in the finale, setting a new direction for season two. Having Zeta-Rho speak through Jordan wasn’t a terribly impressive visual feat, and it was good that Lois was able to go into her son’s head and channel his positive memories to get him to wake up and return to his normal self. There was yet another opportunity for innocent civilians – or in this case, soldiers – to be possessed and turned into Kryptonian weapons, but luckily Superman being on the right side of this war in this universe to team up with John made all the difference. Kyle even got to repair his reputation by saving someone from a fire, getting his job back, and even making his best-ever ribs recipe that Lois was intent on getting. Jordan and Sarah can celebrate young love, while Jonathan and Tegan might have a future together after all. Superman giving Chrissy an exclusive interview was a great way to bolster the newly co-owned paper that Lois was able to convince her boss not to sell, and hopefully to instill some confidence and boost morale for the people of Smallville. While Leslie is still in prison and theoretically Edge is too, it’s not clear where the focus of season two will lie, but there’s one major addition that’s sure to shake things up in the form of Natalie, whose arrival from her Earth might mean that it’s possible for John to return there or that they’re both going to have to stay here for the future. That may be a good thing since she’s another asset who can team up with the good guys, but it’s sure to be complicated to figure out who she fits in.

Season grade: B+
Season MVP: Tyler Hoechlin as Clark
