They certainly waited long enough to decide whether this show was coming back, but the good news, as of this past Wednesday, is that it will in fact return for season two. I’m glad to see that, especially considering the bold ending of this episode, which found Sheila fully indulging in her own happiness and something that has nothing to do with either aerobics or her husband. It tracks that Danny would become jealous that Sheila was the one getting on the front page rather than him, but he and Jerry have also never been smart enough to see the benefits of that publicity and use it to their advantage. If Sheila didn’t feel so slighted and actually wanted Danny to succeed for his own sake, she might have helped tip the scales, but instead she’s doing exactly what she wants to for the first time in her life. I can only imagine how irritating Danny and Jerry’s think tank is going to be, and I can only hope that Sheila puts her foot down and refuses to continue being his punching bag. Forcing a dessert into her mouth definitely crossed a line in a way I think even he realized. I’m hopeful that Sheila’s newfound success and dalliance with Breem doesn’t result in Bunny getting left behind, but I think she’s sensible enough to remember who has helped her – namely Tyler, Bunny, and Greta – and ensure that she doesn’t abandon them when they could succeed together. I’m looking forward to season two and I hope that this show is plentifully rewarded with accolades for its performance come awards time.
