Golden Globe Nominees: Best Actor in a TV Series - Drama
My predictions: 4/5, picking Paxton over Cranston
Who’s missing: Bill Paxton (Big Love), Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Gabriel Byrne (In Treatment), Simon Baker (The Mentalist)
So now all of a sudden, for some reason, the Globes decide to notice Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad). It’s well deserved, of course, so I’m very happy about it. It comes at the expense of Bill Paxton (Big Love), whose show is completely forgotten about this year after winning Best Supporting Actress last year. Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire) is this year’s newbie, replacing Simon Baker. Then we have our three default nominees, Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), and Hugh Laurie (House). Laurie has won twice before, and both Hall and Hamm have one win apiece.
Who could win? Definitely either Buscemi or Cranston, and I’m tempted to give Buscemi an edge because his hot new show is also up for Best Drama Series.
