What I’m Watching: The Good Wife

The Good Wife: Season 4, Episode 19 “The Wheels of Justice” (B+)

What an incestuous show this is, with Will dating the prosecuting attorney and Diane planning to marry the ballistics expert. This was a big episode for relationship developments on those fronts, with a heartbroken Laura deciding to end it with Will after Alicia called him, and Diane defiantly opting to marry Kurt despite the fact that she knows he has spoken out about secession and that it may hurt her chances for the judgeship. With Kalinda preoccupied helping Diane sort our her skeletons, it was great to see Robin step in to help Cary by acting stone-faced in the interview and then head out after Greg when he so arrogantly walked out in the middle of the interview because he got another offer. She and Cary make a good team, and as long as they don’t start dating, they’ll continue to work together well. This is the first appearance of Dylan Baker as Colin Sweeney this season, and he has a pretty good track record, earning Emmy nominations both times he was eligible in the past. This part wasn’t all that meaty, aside from an exchange about sexual details with Will and a threat to Alicia to kill his newest wife, instead focusing on another notable guest star, Morena Baccarin, currently appearing on “Homeland,” as his wife-to-be, who wanted so much to ensure that there wasn’t a prenup that she was willing to flip-flop on her testimony to convince Colin to back off and give in. Only on this show could that not seem outrageous.
