Golden Globe Nominees: Best Actor in a TV Series – Comedy or Musical

My predictions: 4/5, picking O’Neill over Parsons
Who’s missing: Ed O’Neill (Modern Family), David Duchovny (Californication), Joel McHale (Community)

Proving that they like to mimic the Emmys, the Globes have finally nominated fan favorite Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), who took home the Emmy this past year (see the Best Supporting Actor category for further evidence of this trend). I’m so sad to see David Duchovny (Californication) undeservedly go (edit: commenter MS correctly points out that he was ineligible because his show last aired in December 2009), but so thrilled that Thomas Jane (Hung) hung on to his slot (no pun intended). I’m not sure why Matthew Morrison (Glee) still merits a mention, but whatever. And, of course, we have Alec Baldwin (30 Rock) and Steve Carell (The Office).

Who could win? Probably Parsons.

I don't think that David Duchovny and Californication are eligible this year for a GG or an Emmy since the show will not air until Jan of 2010.

You're quite right! For some reason, I thought the show had stretched into the beginning of last year. Thanks for the tip! I still imagine he'll be left off next year though...

Well, i made a mistake too:) The show will not be back until Jan 2011......not 10:) I hope he will then qualify for a shot at the Emmy's. I still feel that there should be a dramedy catagory. There are many series that fall into that catagory. Its not fair putting a show like that up against straight comedies like Two and a Half Men etc.

Speaking of dramedies, did you know that Mary-Louise Parker was nominated at the Satellite Awards this year for Best Actress - Drama? Interesting.
