What I’m Watching: Daredevil

Daredevil: Season 2, Episode 12 “The Dark at the End of the Tunnel” (B)

I’m still not entirely sure that I get what’s going on with Stick, the Hand, and Elektra, but it seems like we’ve made some decent progress in this episode that played out in a cool way. Leave it to Matt to decide that he still needed to save Stick even though he might be a deplorable villain, and for Elektra to be another party in the whole debacle with a completely different attitude, with all of them needing to band together to save themselves from certain death. Stick whispering and talking Matt through how to fight his captors was pretty awesome, and I like that dynamic. Elektra threatening to cut someone in half if he called her “it” again was a tense moment, and now Daredevil has become a main target of the Hand. Clancy Brown’s Colonel Schoonover seemed like Frank’s number one defender, but as always seems to be the case, he was up to much more nefarious things that only came to light when Karen stopped by to poke around for information. Frank showed up to save the day by crashing his car into Karen’s, and, once again, Karen couldn’t stop Frank from exercising justice the way he saw fit and executing Schoonover, who also happened to be the Blacksmith, something that links these plotlines in a way that isn’t quite satisfying enough for me but which I hope will be rectified in the season finale in a way that sets up a strong and compelling season three.
