Legends of Tomorrow: Season 2, Episode 10 “The Legion of Doom” (B)
This was definitely better than all the George Lucas ridiculousness of the last episode, but I’m still not totally convinced by where this is all going. I’ll admit that I wasn’t entirely sure how Eobard Thawne was still around since he should have died when his descendant Eddie shot himself, yet he somehow still reappeared on “The Flash” to mess things up for Barry when he changed the timeline at the end of last season. While that still wasn’t explained, at least it’s been addressed by the fact that he has a very freaky-looking time wraith version of the Flash is hunting him, and that’s why he’s never able to stay in one place for too long. How we got there, with Dahrk and Merlyn bickering in front of a hapless memory-free Rip, was far less convincing and worthwhile. It does seem to me that this Legion of doom is particularly ineffective and much less villainous than they should be in order to be able to accomplish their goals of world domination and the like. Modifying Rip’s memories to possibly include an assassination of George Washington seems strange, but I’ll just be happy to have Rip back since this blubbering replacement is really annoying. Lily coming aboard the Wave Rider wasn’t a good idea, and I like that Stein pointed out that his timeline might not be the right one (even though I’m pretty sure it is the original one). I’ve been trying to figure out where I know Lily’s portrayer, Christina Brucato, from, and I’m pretty sure that it’s from her one-episode stint as the lookalike younger version of Lolly on “Orange is the New Black.”
