What I’m Watching: Legends of Tomorrow

Legends of Tomorrow: Season 6, Episode 11 “The Final Frame” (B-)

Only on this show could planet Earth be trapped in a bowling ball and the fate of its entire population left up to the outcome of a bowling game. Though it was absurd in concept, it was a relatively enthralling ride, one that found good partnerships emerge from unexpected places. Nicholas Bishop made for a scenery-chewing villain, one whose hand literally covered the sky whenever he picked up the ball and eventually ended up taking the brunt of Zari’s blast when they tried to find a way to fight back against whatever it was that was happening. Zari and Nate were stuck with the most irritating couple, and I too enjoyed that, when the world was indeed ending, Jeff chose that time to share with Jamie that he had gotten a secret vasectomy. I do like Zari and Nate as a couple much more than the other Zari and Constantine, but I’m not going to pretend to understand how this whole totem thing works with the two of them not being able to be out of it together at the same time. At the alley, Spooner and Mick continued to develop their relationship by bonding over beer and a need for particular style, and it’s sweet to see them become friends. Astra ended up being a key player for the team, with no experience whatsoever bowling but an apparent innate ability to play the game after a bit of warming up. Constantine’s entrance into the alley was ominous enough before Buddy’s forecast of his doomed fate that it seems may soon befall him.
