What I’m Watching: Superman and Lois

Superman and Lois: Season 1, Episode 14 “The Eradicator” (B)

There’s a certain point at which things start to feel cyclical, even on a show as young as this one, and knowing that next week is the season finale helps somewhat since it indicates that this storyline will likely soon be wrapped up. It follows closely in the path of “Supergirl,” which also cast family as villains in its first season and then moved on to different threats. The new Edge did seem much more threatening because he wasn’t speaking and taunting the people, since an ego can be manipulated and use to an opponent’s advantage. Leslie got herself captured but Edge got away and managed to take Jordan with him, presumably because he, as a half-Kryptonian, would be a more fitting host for Zeta-Rho. It was strange to see such a big moment as Leslie get knocked out of the sky by John’s hammer at the last minute as she was about to kill Lois being watched on live television by kids at a party in Smallville, but I guess that’s always been a part of this universe’s legacy, which is that Lois is a revered and trusted reporter, even if not everyone likes her methods. I imagine that Chrissy will only be further compelled to sell now that Lois isn’t working with her and is instead reporting for other networks in the middle of very newsworthy coverage, but everyone has much bigger things to worry about right now anyway. The same goes for Kyle’s job offer and the fact that Jordan said “I love you” to Sarah right before he got taken, indicating that their connection will not be easily broken.
