What I’m Watching: Legends of Tomorrow (Season Finale)

Legends of Tomorrow: Season 6, Episode 15 “The Fungus Amongus” (B)

I and other fans of this show have become so accustomed to long waits between seasons, and so it’s strange to see this one off knowing that season seven is coming in less than six weeks, a function of pandemic delays that put off this one airing but have the next one ready to go at pretty much the same time. This finale was typically ridiculous, but it was good to see the whole team working together to stand against this alien invasion perpetrated by the scenery-chewing Bishop. Having the team employ a What Would Sara Lance Not Do attitude was entertaining, and I also like that Sara was so excited to share an idea from the dead Constantine with the team that turned out to be far less profound when she actually said it in a lucid state. It was true, of course, and it was fun to see everyone swap powers for just a moment to be able to hold them off. Getting Bishop from an earlier time to help them was smart, and he seemed perfectly ready to go ahead and change his ways as a result of the cautionary tale he had witnessed, though that wasn’t a fate he wasn’t going to be able to live out due to the all-important timeline. Mick departing means that Sara is now the only original legend left, though it’s a real credit to this show that there’s such a superb and engaging team in place that have all joined since the show started. Sara and Ava are now married, which is sweet, and Constantine is gone, but, most importantly and problematically, so is the Wave Rider, seemingly destroyed by another Wave Rider. I’d love to see the team combat alternate versions of themselves in the next season, and, as usual, I’m on board with this fun show for the foreseeable future.

Season grade: B
Season MVP: Tala Ashe as Zari
