Daredevil: Season 1, Episode 4 “In the Blood” (B-)
I want to say that the problem with this show is that it’s too dark, but I think it’s just that it’s taking too long to really get itself going and amp up the excitement so it’s not just a masked man in the shadows fighting off comic book villains. It could be that Daredevil is more of that type of hero, not one to be widely celebrated and more akin to Batman than someone like the Flash or even Green Arrow (just to name a few who are on TV right now). I might feel differently if I were marathoning through this show in one day, but I can’t imagine I’d be compelled enough to want to watch it that quickly given its pace. Claire getting kidnapped was a big development, but it’s clear that Wilson is a bigger threat to those who are supposed to be on his side and then cross him than to those who might be perceived as his enemies, as evidenced by his murder by slamming of Anatoly. I don’t know if this means Claire is in the clear now, but at least Matt is opening up enough to tell her his real name. Karen is pushing the envelope as much as possible, almost trying to get herself killed, but she fortunately has a gruff guardian angel in Ben making sure that she’s slightly careful about how she goes about it. And she even got some new really old equipment to make the office feel like a real legal office.
