What I'm Watching: Rescue Me

Rescue Me: Season 4, Episode 3 "Commitment" (B)

This hour felt just a little bit lacking, what with some unresolved issues on the part of Sheila's plotline and her wooden boyfriend as well as unexciting stalls in the love lives of both Franco and Uncle Teddy. I am not actually sure why Teddy is still a character on the show, but he is occasionally entertaining. I did feel Tatum O'Neal's absence, which surprised me, because I really did not like her at first, but I guess she has grown on me. The firefighter who saved Tommy, played by Jennifer Esposito, does seem a bit too turned on all the time, and as a poster booradley put it in a response over at GoldDerby, courting has not seemed so stalkerish since Danny's desperate and creepy wooing of Jordan on "Studio 60". All in all, a decent enough sendoff for Jack McGee, who presumably leaves the show after this episode following a somewhat surprising suicide (I expected a heart attack). He has had a good run on this show, but after all the deaths recently, this show is accumulating one of the highest death rates, behind only "The Sopranos" and "24". No new episode next week due to July 4th.
