AFT Awards: Best Writing in a Drama Series

This is the fourteenth category of the 1st Annual AFT Television Awards to be announced. Episodes listed represent the best in dramatic series writing this past year. Nominees are listed in alphabetical order by series.

Best Writing in a Drama Series

BROTHERHOOD, "Samyutta 11:10" (Written by Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin)
This is one of the best episodes of "Brotherhood" this season and the writing really shows it. The characters are so well-developed with specific plontlines this episode.

DEXTER, "Shrink Wrap" (Written by Lauren Gussis)
The writing in this episode is so sharp and the dialogue is absolutely perfect for star Michael C. Hall and guest star Tony Goldwyn.

JERICHO, "Pilot" (Written by Jonathan Steinberg, Josh Schaer and Stephen Chbosky)
This brilliant pilot takes a difficult concept and weaves it seemlessly in with excellent introductions of new characters, and more importantly, a fascinating future fatalistic world.

THE NINE, "Pilot" (Written by Hank Steinberg and K.J. Steinberg)
This was probably the most promising pilot of the season, even though the show's quality sort of plummeted afterwards leading up to its being taken off the air. Nonetheless, the pilot was expertly crafted with some excellent characters and nice surprises.

THE RICHES, "Pilot" (Written by Dmitry Lipkin and Eddie Izzard)
The concept here is more than a bit far-fetched and difficult to get into, but the writers really do a fantastic job of making it seem believable. The dialogue is intensely rich as well.

And the winner is...
DEXTER, "Shrink Wrap"
