What I'm Watching: Studio 60

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip: Season 1, Episode 20 "K & R, Part 2" (C+)

Again with the flashbacks. It seems far too early in a show's run (especially for one with this short a run, airing only two more episodes) for it to be featuring extensive flashbacks to earlier times, which in themselves are poorly designed in that it is hard to distinguish which is which. Whatever political undertones exist about the war then and the war now are far too pronounced and obvious to be effective, especially in line with such satiric and wry writing used for banter between Danny, Matt, Jordan, and Harriet. As I said last week, everything is much too serious for such a comedic show. This is not "The West Wing" (as evidenced by its failure to attain a substantial audience) and thus the writers should not try to change it so as to make it more appealing to fans of the dramatic storytelling on "The West Wing". Only one more part of this whole "K & R" business, and then we can move on to the hopefully great and memorable series finale.
