AFT Awards: Best Directing in a Drama Series

This is the sixteenth category of the 1st Annual AFT Television Awards to be announced. Episodes listed represent the best in dramatic series direction this past year. Nominees are listed in alphabetical order by series.

Best Directing in a Drama Series
BROTHERHOOD, "Ecclesiastes 7:2" (Directed by Nick Gomez)
This extremely powerful episode is perfectly crafted for an intense and moving hour centered around an unfortunate tragedy.

JERICHO, "Why We Fight" (Directed by Sanford Bookstaver)
This season finale builds perfectly upon the entire season's tone for an incredible sendoff and a wonderfully frustrating cliffhanger.

LOST, "Through the Looking Glass" (Directed by Jack Bender)
This is the ultimate example of how a season finale can completely eclipse the entire season in quality and dramatic impact, and this one succeeds masterfully.

THE NINE, "Pilot" (Directed by Alex Graves)
This episode provides an amazing introduction to the short-lived, downhill series in a brief amount of time with a far larger amount of suspense and action.

THE SHIELD, "Chasing Ghosts" (Directed by Frank Darabont)
The amazing director of "The Shawshank Redemption" steps in to direct the moving and really intense episode in which Vic and Shane finally confront each other.

SMITH, "Pilot" (Directed by Christopher Chulack)
I still cannot believe this great crime thriller show was cancelled after only three episodes. This pilot was by far the best of them and the ultimate action television show.

And the winner is...
LOST, "Through the Looking Glass"
Next: To be announced
