Weeds: Season 6, Episode 12 “Fran Tarkenton” (B+)
It definitely feels like we’re hurtling towards the end of the season on this show as things heat up and people do crazy things. Not that those kinds of things don’t happen every week on this show. Doug’s trip home is particularly sad, as he continues to call his wife’s new husband the butler and then sees his child run up to give him a hug without even acknowledging Doug. His inappropriate comment following his wife’s scathing speech was a nice return to reality, sending him packing with a humorless if still pathetic scene. The lengths Andy goes to in order to fake Hooman’s death are entertaining, and fortunately, it all worked out in the end, even if Hooman’s bride’s family is in deep distress. I’m not quite sure where the bonding between Silas and Lars is going to lead to since he’ll have to be uprooted unless the character leaves the show after this season. Nancy’s uncooperativeness with Vaughn was unsurprising, yet it still serves to underline just how much havoc she can reach on people’s lives, evidenced by the camera broken in a moment of rage on her part. Of course, her troubles with Vaughn are nothing compared to what’s waiting for her in her room at the end of the episode. A scary-looking bearded Guillermo is one thing, but a calm, collected Esteban is even more frightening. Just as they were about to jet off to Copenhagen, things have gotten really, really bad. How convenient that the season finale is just a few days away.
