What I’m Watching: Parks and Recreation

Parks and Recreation: Season 6, Episode 3 “The Pawnee-Eagleton Tip Off Classic” (A-)

I loved this episode, which had me laughing much more than I’ve laughed in a long time. All of the plotlines were equally spectacular, and there wasn’t a dull moment during any of them. It’s always a good thing to have Kristen Bell stop by a TV show, and she was a great fit for the part of the well-dressed Eagleton representative who had to consult Ben and Chris on her city’s finances in between bankruptcy brunches and other fancy affairs. I loved how much fun Leslie had insulting Eagleton to get laughs and applause from Pawnee residents, and that what Ben objected to was her not helping other people out rather than her being too involved in their financial consulting. Suggesting that Pawnee absorb Eagleton is a bold move, and it’s one that’s sure to change the show in a major way. Rebooting an already successful show to head in an even more invigorating direction six seasons in is a great thing. Ron enlisting Donna and Tom to help him destroy every trace of his existence only to find that they were posting his efforts online and that Diane needed him to be on the grid was simply fantastic, and the best thing to happen with Ron and Diane yet. England-bound Andy was nowhere to be found in this episode, but that didn’t stop April and Ann from having a blast together as April tried out veterinary school and Ann found the perfect baby store. I think it’s amazing that they spend so much time together, and this was an excellent instance of them learning to get along despite their very different personalities.
