What I’m Watching: Sense8

Sense8: Season 2, Episode 7 “All I Want Right Now is One More Bullet” (B+)

This episode felt like it was most about personal triumphs and coming back from a place of desolation to a point where you feel like you’re truly in control of your life and the events around you. Now, that’s difficult on a show like this since it’s hard to keep track of exactly what’s going on and there are so many people involved in everyone else’s business, with multiple clusters of sensates now interacting and going to war, with plenty of casualties on so many sides along the way. The most emphatic success story, as always, is Nomi’s, who started off getting to walk down the aisle at her sister’s wedding, giving Sun permission to break her obnoxious wedding party partner’s finger while they walked down the aisle together. The FBI bursting in during the wedding to arrest Nomi was a horrific regression, and Amanita standing up to make a scene and demand to see a warrant resulted in a surprising and reaffirming defense of Nomi’s right to be who she is from her father. Who ever expected a happy ending – or at least midpoint – for her with her family? While Lito was sulking, Daniela stepped up to prove her worth as more than just a pretty face, simultaneously conducting multiple calls to manipulate those on the other end into giving in to completely concocted demands and netting him an amazing offer. Capheus is also continuing to grow into a role for which he’s being groomed, transformed from an eager bus driver into a symbol of hope for the people of his country.
