What I'm Watching: Desperate Housewives (Season Finale)

Desperate Housewives: Season 3, Episode 23 "Getting Married Today" (B+)

A generally positive and good season goes out very well with this finale. Marcia Cross is finally back as Bree, setting up an elaborate deception in order to protect her daughter. Susan and Mike continue to find that they are perfect for each other, while Gabrielle makes a terrifying realization that the man she has just married is just using her for political purposes. Lynette's mother is a fun character who serves well to infuse some new life into an occasionally tired Lynette/Tom plotline. The most shocking event of all is of course the suicide of Edie Britt, which should serve as an excellent catalyst for some great dramatic storylines next year, especially between Carlos and Gabrielle. This finale is a bit strange in that it does not create any new sort of mystery (besides whether Edie actually dies, which I presume she does), unlike the first two seasons, where Zach was preparing to kill Mike, and Orson hit Mike with his car. Well, I suppose that is another year and a generally satisfying conclusion will have to do.

Season grade: B/B+
