What I'm Watching: Raines

Raines: Season 1, Episode 2 "Meet Juan Doe" (B)

Solidly standing up to the precedent of its first episode, this show is in a sense very much comparable to "Shark" (actually airing at the same time for these first two episodes, before Raines relocates to Fridays next week). Both showcase an older film actor taking on a TV role where they essentially carry their shows with their charismatic nature, with the aid of some clever dialogue. The concept in Raines works far better than in "Ghost Whisperer" or in "Medium," and as far as a procedural goes, it's satisfying enough to work on a regular basis. It's nice to see Linda Park of "Enterprise" fame on a new show. Also, bonus points for the fairly simple but nice and somewhat creepy opening credits.
