Prison Break: Season 2, Episode 22 "Sona" (D)
A show that has always contained a great deal of ridiculous plotlines ended its final two episodes so fantastically last year, providing the possibility for a sophomore season of what was essentially a one-season premise. When the show was renewed about a week ago for a third season, it looked like there might be another exciting season of all of the characters on the run, however improbable it might get. Unfortunately, a new storyline about "SONA" has been started, where the whole government conspiracy angle could have been ended. The show has always been at its best when it revolved solely around the escaped convicts rather than around a convoluted government conspiracy. It is really too bad that the writers did not take the opportunity to go away from that direction and head somewhere more believable. The fact that everyone (Michael, Mahone, T-Bag, Bellick) is so easily in prison is tiring, and a far less ambiguous end would have been nice. I cannot say I am very excited for next season, but it is possible that the showrunners can be creative and next season could be a lot of fun.
Season 2 grade: C
Drive begins Sunday, April 15 and will assume Prison Break's timeslot the following night, though I predict it will be cancelled before it has finished its alloted run.
