Final Golden Globe Winner Predictions

The Golden Globes are tonight, and I’m excited to watch! This slate of contenders is mostly more interesting than the SAG list for later this month, and I’m hoping we’ll get some great winners.

There aren’t as many contenders that I’m rooting for now that Tatiana Maslany and Amy Poehler aren’t nominated, but there are still a few wins that could be fun, namely Gina Rodriguez for Best Comedy Actress. I’d love to see Liev Schreiber, Ruth Wilson, Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks, and Michelle Monaghan win, but I don’t see any of that happening. I did terribly on my predictions last year, so let’s hope that my strong nominations showing translates to a solid percentage of correctly predicted wins. History may be made tonight if the two shows I’m predicting win the top awards since neither of them actually air on television. “House of Cards” seems far ahead in the drama race, and “Orange is the New Black” should take home the award it deserved but didn’t get last year or at the Emmys. The only real gambles I’m taking are predicting Clive Owen over Kevin Spacey for Best Actor, citing the many freshman series wins in this category over the past two decades, and “Fargo” over “True Detective” for Best Limited Series or TV Movie. There’s not too much room for surprises, but that’s of course the nature of surprises since they’re hard to predict. Let’s just hope Jeffrey Tambor can eclipse Ricky Gervais, who is rewarded all the time. Leave your thoughts in the comments! Please visit MoviesWithAbe.com for film predictions.
