The competition: Lena Dunham’s spirited twentysomething (Girls), Edie Falco’s sarcastic nurse (Nurse Jackie), Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ sarcastic vice-president (Veep), Gina Rodriguez’s spunky pregnant virgin (Jane the Virgin), and Taylor Schilling’s reluctant inmate (Orange is the New Black).
For your information: This is the third consecutive nomination for both Dunham and Louis-Dreyfus, and the fourth overall nomination for Falco, who was nominated last year and previously in 2010 and 2011. Schilling was nominated in the drama category last year. Rodriguez is the newbie for a freshman series. “Girls,” “Jane the Virgin,” and “Orange is the New Black” are nominated for Best TV Series – Comedy/Musical.
Who should win? Rodriguez or Louis-Dreyfus
Who will win? It’s hard to say, but I’ll go out on a limb and predict a win for the CW here with Rodriguez.
