Globe Winner Predictions: Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series

The competition: Matt Bomer’s gay reporter (The Normal Heart), Alan Cumming’s political operator (The Good Wife), Colin Hanks’ enthusiastic policeman (Fargo), Bill Murray’s retired widower (Olive Kitteridge), and Jon Voight’s mobster father (Ray Donovan).

For your information: Voight, who won this award last year, is its only returning nominee with his 11th career Globe nomination. Cumming has starred on his show for years and makes his first appearance now, earning his first Globe bid along with Bomer and Hanks. Murray has four previous film nominations and one win and also contends this year for his film performance in “St. Vincent.” Bomer, Hanks, and Murray’s projects are nominated for Best Limited Series or TV Movie.

Who should win? I haven’t seen Bomer or Murray, but I would vote for Cumming or Voight.

Who will win? This could be a great place to honor Bomer but I’m not too confident about that.
